Wiggins scoops SPOTY award

Bradley Wiggins has won the Sports Personality of the Year Award 2012.

He held off 2nd and 3rd Jessica Ennis and Andy Murray to grab the award, which Mark Cavendish, also a cyclist, won last year.

Wiggins' achievements include becoming the first Brit ever to win the Tour De France, and he won gold at the Olympics.

Do you think Wiggins should have won the award? Or another of the top twelve? For a reminder of who they were, look below:
Bradley Wiggins (cycling)
Jessica Ennis (heptathalon)
Andy Murray (tennis)
David Weir (wheelchair racing)
Mo Farah (long distance running)
Ellie Simmonds (Paralympic swimming)
Sir Chris Hoy (cycling)
Rory McIlroy (golf)
Sarah Storey (Paralympic cyclist)
Katherine Grainger (rower)
Ben Ainslie (sailing)
Nicola Adams (boxing)
Do you one of the others should have won? Or maybe another athlete that wasn't in the list. We'd love to see your views.

  1. I think Ennis should have won. I know winning the TdF is an incredible achievement but it's essentially a team event. Winning the heptathlon gold is amazing - you have to be really good at 7 different events and you have to do it all by yourself!
